- Chumash Indians living north of Los Angeles, along the California
coastline. Members are from Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Kern, and
Ventura Counties.

A group originating from the Cuyama Valley.

- The Chumash are working to regain the Channel Islands from which
they were removed centuries ago by the Mexican and Spanish invaders.

Chumash - Occupied
the southwestern region of the ancient Chumash nation in southern
California. All their territory is now being used by the
Vandenberg Air Force base.
Los Angeles Chumash
- Members of the traditional Malibu, Tejon, and Ventura bands
relocated to the Los Angeles area in the 19th Century.
Malibu Chumash -
Groups were dispersed from the coast near Malibu.
Descendants of the Malibu Chumash are now found among the Tejon,
Coastal, San Fernando Valley, and Ventura organizations.

peninsula.
